Imran wants the PAC to expose corruption in his government

Prime Minister Imran Khan has called on members of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) to expose corruption in all governments, including his own.

PAC members from the treasury benches met with the prime minister on Thursday and said the leadership was lacking in eradicating corruption in the country.

The premier told PAC members to expose and eradicate all forms of corruption. "Anyone who tries to hide corruption, let me know his name," the prime minister said.

He instructed PAC members to expose corruption allegations in the previous government but also said corruption under the current government should be exposed.

PAC members complained that officials had been trying to close corruption cases when NAB had also done nothing to prosecute corruption.

Prime Minister Imran Khan has said his government will not back down from cracking down on corruption in any way.

Commenting on the Peshawar Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project, Justice Iqbal said the matter was up to the Supreme Court of Pakistan to decide the matter.

He told PAC members that they were great politicians and could therefore highlight such cases.

He said the NAB had not yet closed the investigation and "an impartial decision would be made.

Sindh reduces the pass rate from 65% to 50% acceptance of MBBS / BDS

This decision will not only provide an opportunity for provincial students to seek admission to Sindh medical/dental colleges/universities/universities but also vacant and vacant seats. ”

This was stated by Sindh Prime Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah while chairing a cabinet meeting here at CM House on Thursday. The meeting was attended by provincial ministers, advisers, special aides, Secretary-General Mumtaz Shah, P&D Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, PSCM Sajid Jamal Abro, and other officials.

After taking over the Pakistan Dental Medical Council (PMDC), the National Assembly passed the Pakistani Medical Commission (PMC) Act to regulate medical practice, medical education, and the recognition of medical and dental degrees throughout Pakistan.

Section 16 (f) of the new PMC 2020 empowers the PMC to conduct all tests. Section 18 (3) states that admission to medical or dental programs offered by public colleges must be regulated by the principles of provincial governments.

"The marks obtained by a student in the MDCAT run by an official will weigh 50 percent to be allowed to enter public colleges," said the health minister. “Therefore, in the PMC Act of 2020, there is no mention of a percentage of passing or failing in the qualifying form for the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT). Likewise, nothing is said about the minimum compulsory pass rate, currently 65 percent. ”

According to the Minister of Health Dr. Azra Pechuho, the PMC conducts computerized MDCAT-2021 computer tests in October 2021, based on the Federal curriculum on different days. "Examination from the curriculum puts Sindh students in a precarious position and results in low pass rates," he said. Last year, the pass rate for the MDCAT test was 60% and this year, the demand has been increased one by one to 65%. As a result, the number of successful students last year was 8,287 (32.8%) and the number of successful candidates for MDCAT 2021 was 7,797 (22.4%).

Total Number Mdcat

The total number of seats in medical and dental colleges (public and private) in Sindh is 5,490. Last year, with a pass rate of 60 percent in the MDCAT, 8,287 students graduated from Sindh out of which 2,900 entered medical and dental colleges. Of the remaining 5,387 students, about 800 attended private medical and dental colleges, while the remaining 4,587 could not be accepted mainly because they could not afford to pay.

As a result, about 1,800 seats were left vacant and private companies received 1,300 people from other provinces, while 492 seats had not been filled. With this drop in admissions, Sindh will face a severe shortage of about 10,000 doctors over the next five years.

Sindh's prime minister said the WHO had recommended one doctor for every 850 people, but Sindh had one doctor for every 3,200 people. "So this medical gap will only get worse if the situation continues," he said.

The health minister said he had held numerous meetings with vice-chancellors of the public universities of dentistry and the Pakistan Association of Medical and Dental Institutions (Sindh). They decided that to fill all the seats, the pass rate for MDCAT-2021 should be reduced from 65% to 50%.

Dr. Azra Pechuho said the request to reduce the pass percentage was not only written to the PMC president but a team from Sindh met with him. The PMC did not respond.

Given this, Cabinet decided to reduce the pass rate in the MDCAT 2021, and candidates who do not have less than 50 percent may be considered eligible for admission to the 2021-2022 Session while the weight of the MDCAT-2021 should be absolute. placed under the Pakistan Medical Commission Act (PMC).
